Where the community actually hangs out
West Hollywood / Boystown
The beating heart of LA queer nightlife. The Santa Monica Blvd strip is home to The Abbey, Micky's, and decades of go-go dancers, drag, and dance floors. Glossy, high-energy, and internationally known.
Silver Lake
The Eastside's queer anchor — Akbar, Eagle LA, The Black Cat (site of a landmark 1967 civil-rights protest). Dimly lit, unpretentious, community-rooted. Where locals go when they want soul over spectacle.
Echo Park & Los Feliz
Cocktail bars, queer dance parties, and inclusive dining like Semi-Tropic, HiTops, and Kismet. A younger, sapphic-leaning, creative crowd just east of the freeway.
Venice & Downtown (DTLA)
Roosterfish holds down 40+ years of Westside beach queer history, while DTLA brings warehouse parties, Precinct, and a grittier after-hours energy.

Best time to visit
June for LA Pride (2026: parade Sunday, June 14, in Hollywood + Pride Village) and a full month of citywide events. Fall and spring bring perfect weather; summer is hot inland but great near the coast.
Getting around
LA is car-first — rent a car or rely on rideshare. WeHo, Silver Lake, and Echo Park are 15–25 minutes apart by car. The Metro B (Red) Line connects Hollywood and DTLA; Venice needs a car or a long rideshare.
