Detroit doesn't wait for permission. Motor City's queer scene is gritty and soulful, and it has decades of history behind it. It runs from the historic gay bars of Palmer Park to the techno basements Downtown, then north to the "gayborhood" suburbs of Ferndale and Royal Oak. This is the city that gave the world techno, and its dance floors still prove it. It's also a place where bear bars, drag stages and Black queer community groups have kept the culture alive through every chapter. Come with an open mind and leave with a new favorite city.
