Austin's historic gay bar district is downtown on 4th Street, between Colorado and Lavaca — Oilcan Harry's, Rain, and Highland Lounge are all walkable from each other. East Austin has become the second hub, with a younger, more DIY, sapphic-leaning scene led by Cheer Up Charlies and rotating queer parties.
Are there lesbian bars in Austin?
Austin has no dedicated lesbian bar today, but Cheer Up Charlies is the community's answer — consistently the most sapphic-friendly room in the city — along with recurring queer women's parties in East Austin. The Queer Route app flags which nights skew sapphic so you're not guessing.
